Billy Idol is known for his spiky blonde
hair, his gorgeous blue eyes, and his devilish sneer. Billy
Idol burst onto the American music scene in the early 80's with
the hit songs "White Wedding", "Rebel Yell",
and "Eyes Without a Face". Billy Idol was one of the
first artist played in heavy rotation on MTV in the early 80's.
It was hard to box Billy's musical style into one category.
Some say he was punk, other say he was rock, a few have even
categorized him as metal. Billy had a unique sense of appeal.
He was able to cross over to mainstream top 40 radio, and stay
true to his musical style. He also was a favorite with the ladies.

In the late 80's Billy experienced his
first U.S. number one single with his remake of the song "Mony,
Mony." In 1990, Billy was prepared to unleash his album
"Charmed Life" when he was involved in a near fatal
motorcycle crash in Los Angeles.
The "Charmed Life" album went onto be a success, much
in part due to the success of the single, "Cradle of Love",
which became another top ten single for Billy. Against doctors
orders Billy toured to support the album.
Billy Idol early 90's
Billy Idol was relatively low key during much of the 90's, but
his career experienced a rebirth when he was cast as himself
in the Adam Sandler comedy "The Wedding Singer." Billy
and his former guitarist Steve Stevens hooked back up and Billy
began touring again.
In 2001, Billy Idol was featured on
the VH-1 series "Behind The Music." He also released
a successful "Greatest Hits" collection. In February
of 2002, VH-1 will be releasing the DVD of "Storytellers-Billy
Idol". The CD of the "Storytellers" performance
is due to be released March of 2002.
Billy Idol is all about rock & roll
and he definitely is a future Rock & Roll Hall of Fame artist.
