Grand Theft Auto Vice City Game & Sound Track Review
The music, the vehicles, the fashion, Grand Theft Auto-Vice City re-created the 80's in a modern day Play Station 2 game. Put all of the negative things you have heard about Vice City out of your head. It's a game. Sure it's a bit violence, but so were a lot of the games in the 80's? This is just an overall great game. Vice City is sure to bring back many fond memories about the 80's. The game takes place in Florida and it will automatically make most 80's buff's think about the television series Miami Vice. As a matter of fact, Miami Vice actor Phillip Michael Thomas lends his voice to the games character Lance Vance.

The main character in the game is an ex-con named Tommy Versetti. Tommy is on a mission to retrieve some stolen drugs. Completing the overall mission of the game will have you completing many different kids of missions and mini side missions. As Tommy Versetti you will do many things and and see many places, in many different vehicles, including hot stolen cars, luxury speed boats, motorcycles, and you can even fly helicopters.
Back to the cool 80's stuff about this game. The music. User control rules in Vice City and you have several radio stations that you can choose from. The assortment of music available is awesome. Like new wave music? Then Wave 103 is the station for you. Wave 103's play list includes hits "Gold" by Spandau Ballet, "Pale Shelter," by Tears For Fears and "Never Say Never" by Romeo Void.
If you like break dance music, then Wildstyle is your station. R&B your cup of tea? Fever 105 is your station. Like to listen to music in Espanol? There is even a Spanish station (hey, this does take place in Florida). There is also a hard rock station, V-Rock. Miss those 80's power ballads, like Night Rangers "Sister Christian?" then Emotion is your station. Flash FM also plays popular 80's radio hits. Their play list includes songs like "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson and "Run To You" by Bryan Adams. The music helps make the game exciting. As you drive around in your hot stolen cars you have the ultimate 80's soundtrack at your disposal.

The missions you will complete as Tommy Verscetti vary in nature. Before you embark on your missions, I suggest that you purchase The Grand Theft Auto Vice City Official Strategy Guide. The strategy guide features in depth descriptions of every mission. It also helps you to find hidden packages and other mini missions within the game called rampages.
The Grand Theft Auto Vice City Official Strategy Guide doesn't have any cheats. However, it is a must if you want to find all of the hidden packages and rampages. The strategy guide also provides you with hints on how to complete the missions and information on side missions like unique stunts.
There are too many missions for me to describe each one, but don't worry, there are some wonderful Vice City walk thru's on the web. One of the best ones is at Bellaonline-GTA Vice City Walk Thru.

The mission vary in type. There is a mission early in the game, named Waste The Wife. that will have you run a woman in a yellow car off the road. Another mission, Demolition Man, will have you using a RC helicopter to drop bombs at a contstruction site. One of my favorite missions is Phantom Penh 86, which is a sniper mission where you will have to shoot bad guys from a helicopter. Oh an did I forget Treachorous Swine? In this mission you have to silence a loud mouth with a chainsaw.
The missions and the game only get more fun as you progress. Mid-point through the game, the bridges to the other island open up and the playing field for the game becomes much larger.

Not all of the missions involve gratuitous violence. You can even earn an honest living in Vice City by helping out the injured by driving an ambulance, putting out fires with the fire truck, and helping people get where they need to go by driving the taxi.
After you complete a mission named "Shakedown" you can begin buying your businesses around Vice City. Some of the businesses that you can run include Pole Position strip club, Kaufman Cab and the Cherry Popper's Ice Cream Factory.

The game is awesome and the soundtrack is dynamic. If you miss the 80s, Grand Theft Auto Vice City will definitely put you in an 80's state of mind.

Purchase Grand Theft Auto Vice City
Neat things about the game...
  • The next game in the series is rumored to be Grand Theft Auto-San Andreas (GTA-San Andreas)
  • If you have a car that is trashed and you put it in a garage when you come back for it it will be like new.
  • The game voice over actors includes 80's stars Phillip Michael Thomas, Ray Liotta, and Burt Reynolds.
  • The commercials are hilarious and poke fun at 80's trends, tv, and movies.
  • In the mission, The Driver, when you (Tommy Verscetti) are in the back room of the Malibu Club the song "In A Big Country" can be heard playing, even though the song is heard nowhere else on the game's soundtrack.
