Irene Cara
 In 1980, Irene Cara catapulted to superstardom with her role as "Coco" in the film "Fame," and by recording the song "Fame (Remember My Name)" for the movie's soundtrack. That track helped Irene win an Oscar award in 1980 for "Best Song in a Motion Picture." She picked up the same award in 1984 for the song "What A Feeling," the theme song from the hit film "Flashdance." Irene spent much of the late eighties below the radar screen.
Irene Cara is still making music. In the late '90s she released a CD, "Precarious '90s." She is also mentoring a new group, Caramel. Irene has also returned to acting, and will be appearing in several upcoming projects. In 2000, she was featured on the the VH-1 series "Where Are They Now."

Pebbles
 
Pebbles burst onto the music scene in the late '80s with the songs "Girlfriend" and "Mercedes Boy." In the 1990s, Pebbles married LaFace executive L.A. Reid, then introduced the music world to the group TLC, which she managed.

Pebbles had several hits in the '90s, including a duet with BabyFace, "Love Makes Things Happen." After a nasty split with TLC and the breakup of her marriage to L.A. Reid, Pebbles disappeared from the music scene.
 Pebbles is now known as Sister Perri Reid. She is the founder of Women of God Changing Life through Christ, a ministry based in Atlanta. Perri has remarried and is no longer involved with the music industry. You can find out more about Perri's ministry by visiting WOGCL.ORG


Lisa Lisa
Before Jennifer Lopez and Gloria Estephan hit it big, Lisa Lisa was doing her thing and representing for the Latin community.

With her group Full Force, Lisa Lisa had several hits in the '80s-- including "Lost in Emotion," "All Cried Out," "Head To Toe," and "I Wonder If I Take U Home." In 1989 Lisa Lisa released the album "Straight to the Sky" which yielded the singles "Little Jackie Wants to Be a Star," and "Let The Beat Hit 'Em."

In the 1990s Lisa Lisa recorded songs without Cult Jam, but she failed to achieve the success that she achieved in the 1980s.
 Lisa Lisa, whose real name is Lisa Velez is now acting. She appears as Gloria Morales in the Nickelodeon series "Taina." Visit the Taina web site for more information.

 

Shanice Wilson
Multitalented Shanice Wilson made her television debut in 1984 as a dancer on the television series "Kids Incorporated." She went on to appear on the show "Star Search." At age 11 Shanice landed a record deal, and she released her first solo album in 1987. In the 1990s Shanice hit it big with the single, "I Love Your Smile." Her success started to wane with the release of her 1994 album, "Shanice 21." In the mid-1990s Shanice appeared in the film "Panther."

Shanice released the album "Shanice" in 1999. Shanice toured with pop group NSYNC and she recently married actor/comedian Flex.

Shanice is signed to LaFace records, and she and Flex live in the Los Angeles area. She dropped her last name and is nowknown simply as "Shanice." Visit the Shanice Wilson fan site

 

Jody Watley

Jody Watley hit the music scene in the early '80s as a dancer on the long-running music program "Soul Train" and as a member of the group Shalamar. In the mid-'80s Jody launched a sizzling solo career with the singles "Looking For A Real Love," "Friends," and "Everything."
Jody released two solo albums in the 1990s, "Affection," and "Larger than Life." Unfortunately these albums were less successful than her earlier efforts.
