Gioia Bruno is most remembered for being one-third of the chart topping group Expose. Expose ruled the 80's and early 90's with their hit songs, "Come GoWith Me", "Let Me Be The One", "Tell Me Why", and the classic ballad "Seasons Change."

At the peak of thier fame Gioia (pronounced joy-a) was forced to leave Expose after doctors discovered an inoperable tumor on her vocal cords. This was a devastating blow to the beautiful singer known for her strong powerhouse voice. Doctors told Gioia that she would never sing again, but through meditation and prayer the singer regained her voice again.

Gioia's voice is back and stronger than ever. Now a solo artist, Gioia's performing live again. You can catch a live performance from Gioia October 1, on Good Day New York on WNYW Fox 5.

Gioia's first release is the club anthem "Free To Be." Gioia is hard at work working on songs for a full length album.

Gioia has also launched her official web site to support her return. You can catch her on the web at www.gioiabruno.com.

Gioia took time out of her busy schedule to answer a few questions for imissthe80s.com. Enjoy!

1)Do you still hear from the other members of Expose?
Gioia :
Yeah, we keep in touch. Jeanette is doing great. She's a mommy now and very happy. Ann is in New York and doing well too.

2)What did you do during your time away from the spotlight?
Gioia :
I raised my daughter Brianna and got well (referring to her recovery from the inoperable tumor on her vocal chords). I got into yoga, meditation and living healthy. I even started writing. During that time I also opened a performing arts academy in Florida. Was a very rich period for me and I believe it was what I needed.

3) What is your favorite web site?
Gioia:
www.gioiabruno.com of course!

4) What would you like the world to know about you?
Gioia:
That I am really happy! You know, I am really loving my life today and having such a good time. That is what it's all about for me now. Singing and recording is even more enjoyable this time around because I am making a lot of the creative decisions. What is really rewarding, is that I am writing now and that creative part of the process is so fulfilling. I've got a new dance single that is going to be coming out soon. It's called "From The Inside". If people want to take a listen to it, they can stop by my website.

I am also really excited about going to New York for the Billboard Dance Music Summit and performing live on FOX 5's "Good Day New York". (Tuesday, October 1st, 2002, WNYW FOX 5 Good Day New York 7-9am) This is going to be a lot of fun.

5) What are some of your favorite memories from the 80's?
Gioia::
Having my daughter Brianna tops the list, without question. The second, would be performing at RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL for my parents. That was incredible.
